COLUMBUS, Ohio -The Ohio Board of Pharmacy on Friday awarded a certificate of operation to Rise, 18609 Detroit Ave., Lakewood.
That means the business can open.
Lakewood has another Rise dispensary on Madison Avenue.
With the newest certificate of operation, Ohio now has 51 dispensaries cleared by the state to operate. That leaves six companies that have been provisionally licensed but not yet operational.
Dispensaries have been slow to open for a variety of reasons — local zoning issues, construction hiccups and lawsuits and administrative hearings when dispensaries were denied licenses.
Marijuana regulators divided Ohio into regions and allowed a number of dispensaries in each, including 18 in Northeast Ohio.
